A while back Mark Hillier committed to Merrimack from SAC (Saint Andrews College). Just a few days ago teammate Devlin O'brien committed to the Merrimack program for 2021 the same year Hillier is predicted to arrive at Merrimack. Standing at only 5 feet 10 inches and 175 pounds, O'brien is not afraid to take the hit to the body and isn't afraid to fight for the puck against the boards. O'brien is expected to make a very big impact to the Merrimack team right away. Coach borek has been doing an amazing job when it comes to recruiting those grade A players. Currently Merrimack has 29 commits who's projected arrival years are from 2019 to 2021.

I was lucky enough to talk to the SAC means hockey coach Mr. David Manning to ask him some questions about his thoughts on Devlin O'brien:

Q:
How would you describe him as a player?

A:
“Devlin is a hard working, heady player. He reads the game very well and makes the players he plays with better. He’s outstanding along the boards and behind the goal line at creating offence and the puck always flows through him. He possess a quick release and has a knack for scoring important goals.”

Q:
What would you say his physicality is like on the ice?

A:
“Devlin is a fearless, scrappy player who is unafraid to play in traffic. He does whatever it takes to make a play.”

Q:
What would you say his best attribute is?

A:
“Devlin has great timing. The play never dies with him and he’s got really good touch around the net.
